The titanic collision of October 14, 1066: Norman heavy cavalry charges uphill, crashing directly into the interlocking shield-wall of King Harold's veteran housecarls.
This fragment belongs to a continuous narrative: the upper and lower registers extend the main story with a bestiary, decorative motifs and symbolic echoes.
